CCEE2234

Hi friends!

Kelly here and I'm delighted to bring you the September challenges!

Today is International Toy Testing Day ~

show us your cards with a toy/toys on them!

Think Christmas cards and Santa’s workshop, too!

Use the code CCEE2234 on any online gallery and

check out the design team cards for this week!

It was late and I have limited toy stamps, so I used this old teddy bear from Stampin' Up. I was thinking of the way Santa shelves his toys in his workshop with rows and rows of colors and kinds. My background was made with a birthday gift I received from a friend for my birthday. It was these great little roller stamps.

Check the fun ideas from the design team HERE.

CCEE2233 - Pluto Demoted Day

Hi Crafty Friends,

It's Frances here again with our last challenge for the month, thank you to all of you who played along this week.

According to the Days of the Year web site, yesterday 24th August was Pluto Demoted Day, this day marks the occasion in 2006 when Pluto was demoted from being a planet to a dwarf planet. For our challenge today, create a card that has a space theme.

Now let's take a peek at our Design Team's creations. HERE

I used the distress oxide ink smash technique for my background. I added sequin stars, and some Sizzix dies. The sentiment is from Tim Holtz idea-o-logy that I altered the ending of.
The sentiment says:  "Not only does my mind wander...sometimes it"
and here is the altered part, I wrote as the conclusion of this statement:
"drifts into outer space."

Tag Tuesday

I love black and white cards and tags. I made this tag for the Tag Tuesday challenge to use black/white and a tiny pop of color. My tiny pop of color is the aqua eye shadow on this beautiful face. These stamps are from Unity, and I did a partial stenciling using a stencil from A Colorful Life. I love using all the great products I find from different sources and how fun to combine them together.
You can find the details of this challenge here:

Passion for Markers #655

My copic markers are my "go to" coloring tool and that is what I used to color this cute animal image I stamped with this Unity stamp. The sentiment is from Stampendous. I think it will make a super cute card for a child's birthday card or thinking of you card.  I created this with the Passion for Markers challenge #655 to use a cute animal as the subject. You can find the details of the challenge here:

Tag Tuesday

I made this for the Tag Tuesday challenge making use of dots and stripes. The dots and stripes are from design papers and the stamped flower is from Unity.  The image is colored with Copic Markers.
The challenge details can be found here:

Tic Tac Toe 175

I love checking over to see what the Tic Tac Toe challenge has every week. This week I made this card for the vertical line on the right: square, leaves, and embossing. The card is a 5 by 5 square. The leaves are stenciled with green distress oxide ink using a stencil from A Colorful Life. I then embossed the card using one of my older Sizzix embossing folers. After the embossing I rubber an Espresso distress oxide ink pad over the raised text. I added a green ribbon treatment to the side.  You can find this challenge here:

Dogs are a Man's Best Friend

I made this card for two challenges this week that had similar criteria. As You Like It challenge was to use your favorite domestic animal and my favorite is a dog because they seem to displayed the most unconditional love for humans. Since it is a dog I was featuring on this card, I am also using it for the Can You Handle the pressuure challenge this week. The theme being dogs or cats, and to use embossing on your card. These challenges can be found here:

The stamps I used for this card is from Unity. I stamped it with Versafine Clair Black ink and colored it with Copic markers. I embossed the peach panel behind the dog.

  Hi Crafty Friends,

A punched image; patterned paper; pansy; paint; person or a product that is from a company whose name starts with “P”.

Now let's take a look the creations made by our Design Team.

http://www.cceestampers.blogspot.com

I used two embossing folders for this card : one paisley, one polka dots. I also used pink paper and an image of peaches and the word "peachy." The stamp is from Unity, the embossing folders from Sizzix, and the oval dies from Sizzix,

Make My Monday - Christmas in August #181

So glad to see a Christmas challenge for the Make My Monday challenge today.  I have gotten a good start going on my stash for Christmas and so glad to get to add this to it. I used mainly die cuts and punches on this one and scraps from my scrap pile, Those are always so fun to create for me and helps me use up my left overs. I added a holly sticker to the snowflake and some red heart shaped gems to my tree. The tree die is from Impression Obsessions.

You can find the details for the challenge here:

Paper Players 604

The challenge for Paper Players this week was a color challenge using black, white, and any pop of color. I counted the gold metallic washi tape as a neutral. I used two washi tape strips and a gingham paper strip. The poinsettia and the sentiment are dies. I used a white pearl as the flower center.

Early Christmas card making

The challenge of the Crafty Hazelnut Christmas challenge was to not use stamps or digitals. So, I used stenciling and dies. This stencil is from Rubbernecker and thee dies are from Sizzix. I have had a little extra time on my hands lately so I have been busy getting started on my Christmas card making. I also did this card for the Just Us Girls #645 challenge to use stenciling and the Monthly Winter Wonderland to use a Reindeer.  I hope you go by and check on the details for both of these great challenges:

Merriest of berries

Another card for the Power Poppy Christmas challenge. I love my Christmas Power Poppy digitals and love coloring with my Copic markers, so this was a fun one for me.

Sending a hug your way

I created this card for these two challenges:

This cute image is from Unity and the sentiment is from Stampendous.  The Alphabet challenge is J for Juvenile and this image seemed perfect.  I used Copic markers for coloring the image and the Versafine Clair black for the stamping elements.

Chillin' with limeade

I made this card for two challenges this week: the My Time to Craft Challenge, which theme was beverage, and for the Daring Cardmakers theme, which was  "keep your cool." This jar of limeade from Unity as is the sentiment, seemed to make this a perfect pair for both of these themes. I loved this design paper I found that was fun of full summery colors and I used a nice clean white card base for the perfect background, like a fresh white tablecloth would be on a table  You can find the details of both of these challenges here:

C.R.A.F.T. challenge - summer

Summer is the theme of the C.R.A.F.T. challenge this week, and I have been anxious to try out one of my newest stencil I recently ordered from A Colorful Life. I added a sentiment from Stampin' Up and the flip flops are from an old retired SU set. I used distress oxide inks for my stenciling, and versafine clair black ink for the sentiment and flip flops.  You can find the details for the C.R.A.F.T. challenge here:

Christmas challenge at Power Poppy

I always love using Power Poppy digitals and how fun to get started on my Christmas stash. I have many friends who are fabulous gardeners, so I love using this digital for their special card I make for them each year. Putting it with different colors and design papers give it a whole new look.
Time is running short but get over and check out the Christmas challenge that is going on over on Power Poppy's blogsite:

I used Copic markers and colored pencils for my coloring tools.

Christmas Stocking

It is so fun to get the creative mojo coming early to get some Christmas cards done early. I did this card to meet the criteria for a couple of this week's paper craft challenges. So here are the list that this card was made for:
(#188 I used criteria was a anything goes theme)

(#624 theme this week: Christmas)

(#179 theme: check it out - using gingham or plaids)

(#174 elements used were diecut, free, and embossing)

I used an embossing folder on my green card base, then I sanded over to expose the white paper underneath. I stamped some texture strip stamps from Unity with charcoal versafine ink and covered with black embossing powder. Added to across the card. Stamped this stocking stamp which is from PSX (1995), probably one of my oldest stamps in my collection of stamps (Retro requirement of using old stamp). I colored it with Copic markers. I added a silver chrome paper die cut for my sentiment, which is from Sizzix.

CCEE2231 embossing technique

  Hi Crafty Friends,

It's Frances back today with our challenge for the week.

A few months ago, Jennifer McGuire shared a technique using embossing folders. Let’s give it a try. You can find Jennifer's tutorial here

Now let's take a look at our Design Team's creations.

Check them out over on the CCEEstampers blog here: www.cceestampers.blogspot.com

What a fun one this challenge was, Frances! I have quite a collection of embossing folders and I love learning new ways to use them. I had not tried this with metallic papers before and I love the way it looked on this metallic red foil paper. As I sanded off the red, a silver came out from underneath. I stamped a rose and leaves in black ink and decided too keep it a neutral color for the contrast.

Freshly Made Sketches

I loved this clean line designed layout for the Freshly Made Sketch challenge this week. Here is where you can find the details:

This sketch is perfect for the sentiment stamp from Impression Obsessions. I added the roses from Unity to each end and colored it with copic markers.

Double D Challenge - lighhouses

When I saw that the theme from the Double D Challenge this week was lighthouses, I decided it was time to dig up one of my favorites. It is this one  that is an oldie from Our Daily Bread Designs, which is now Divinity Designs. I used distress oxide inks to water color in the colors. I gave it a simple layout with cardstock and a piece of design paper and mounted it onto a kraft card base.

Cozy Blue Christmas

I made this blue Christmas card for the Jingle Belles Challenge and also for the Peace on Earth Christmas challenge.  Check out these challenges by clicking on their names. I did a creative distressed oxide ink background on watercolor paper. The I stenciled a diecut snowflake onto the background and also used a die cut snowflake as part of my background, The tree is cut from some blue foil paper and the die is from Impression Obsessions. The sentiment also cut from blue foil paper is from Sizzix. I added blue enamel dots and silver half domes as decoration on the tree.

House Mouse challenge #371 stick to it

Thought I would do a little early Christmas card making today. I am not sure I have ever even made a card with this stamp before today. But I loved how it came together. I used design papers for the background, copic markers for the coloring, and ornament stickers for my stickers.

You can find the House Mouse Challenge here:

CCEE2230 Butterflies

  Hi Crafty Friends,

It's a brand new month which means a new challenge hostess, this time round  (Frances Byrne) is issuing the challenges.

Butterflies seem to be very popular right now, many companies have released products featuring them this year. Create a card that features one or more butterflies.

Let's take a look at what the Design Team have created this week ...

I used a mixture of distress oxide inks as a smash ink background, then die cut this white panel to lay on top of it, letting the colors peek through the holes. I punched out these butterflies with a Martha Stewart paper punch, and added tiny Creative Memory mini flowers from a mini punch.  I added sparkle gel pen to the butterfly wings and centers to the flowers. The sentiment says: live gently upon this earth, which is from a Tim Holtz Idea-o-logy sentiment pad.
