Christmas card Throwdown - color challenge

I made this fun card for the Christmas Card throwdown color challenge this week to use red, white, and aqua. I found this fabulous piece of design paper in my stash for the background and then added my Santa gnome from Rubbernecker. I paper pieced and cut my banner to run across the top and then used these fabulous alphabet letters that have been in my stash so long that the letters peeled apart from the sticky side, so I had t glue them on.

Beyond the blue challenge - Use 2 or more stencils

Stenciling has become a real "go to" technique for me. As a child, I remember my grandmother using stenciling when painting layers of images onto fabric. These stencils were made from waxed heavy paper. and with stiff stenciling brushes she would rub and blend in her fabric paints. Today's stenciling is a little different but adds wonderful colors and blending to a background. The challenge over at Beyond the Blue was to use 2 or more stencils. I chose to actually overlap my stencil layers onto each other for my card. I used various purple distress oxide inks for both layers and two different stencils. Then I added some Spellbinder die cut flowers to it and a large sentiment from  Picket Fence, which was stamped using versafine clair black.

I am getting started on my Christmas cards so I thought the favorite color monochromatic challenge over on Inkspiration would be a good fit. I used two coordinating design papers from the same paper pad

Jingle Belles Rock - stars and stripes

 Christmas in July seems to be a popular theme and the one on challenge on the Jingle Bells challenge is stars and stripes this week. So, I used a striped background with design paper, and there is a star on the top of my tree. I am also using this card for the F4A646 challenge this week.

I used a die set from Tim Holtz for the tree, and a stamp and die from Rubbernecker for the gnome. The striped paper is a sheet of design paper. The sentiment is from  Tim Holtz's Idea-o-logy tablet.

Hi, Lois here with the first of this month's challenges.  Tomorow is my sister Dotsy's birthday.  She is an avid card maker and scrapbooker and also helps with wedding floral arrangements with her friend.  In her honor make either a birthday card or a wedding card.

For my card I did a wedding card making use of mostly white on white. The sentiment and background for the lattice piece of the dies I used a soft blush color. This embossing folder is from Sizzix, the die cut set is from Spellbinders, and the sentiment is from Gina Marie designs. I used pearls are my embellishments.

Paper Craft Crew Sketch Challenge #477

 

This card was made for the Paper Craft Crew Sketch Challenge #477 this week. I used some double sided design paper for my strips, so I flipped on to show the reverse side. I used two Gina K stamps for this card, and a die cut (which I am not sure of the source). I watercolored the flower and leaves with distress oxide inks, and used distress oxide inks to stamp the splattered background on the white panel.

Color Throwdown Challenge #700

I loved these colors for this week's color throwdown challenge. I made my smashed orange background with the left over rusty hinge distress oxide ink that was left on my glass work area that I spritzed water on. Then I added walnut stain doxi ink onto my Impression Obsession background stamp that I stamped in various places over the smashed ink. I tore some kraft paper from an recycled kraft envelope to add for the kraft. I used one of my new momenta border dies that was cut from design papers that had these colors in it. I stamped the sunflowers from Unity onto white cardstock and colored it with Copic markers.The sentiment from Impression Obsessions with versafine clair black. Then I mounted it on a morning marigold card base.
