CCEE2041 World Octopus Day

It's Frances here again this week bringing you another fun challenge.

Today is World Octopus Day, include an octopus or other sea animal on your card.

I have no octopus stamp so I came up with this idea with this seahorse.  Four of the octopus arms are reaching out from the side of the card.  The sentiment is one of the Tim Holtz snarky ones from his 

idea-ology collection. The stamps are from Deep Red. This design paper worked out well for my design too. I colored the seahorse with a copic marker.

My new digital from Stamplorations

 

I recently purchased this fabulous digital from Stamplorations and found it perfect for this easy layout that I like to use a lot. I embossed the brown paper, colored the mugs with copic markers, and mounted it to a scrap of design paper, I am adding it to Stamplorations' Anything that goes challenge for October that you can find  here by clicking to the  badge below:

Tuesday morning sketch 574

 

I've been in the mood to start my Christmas cards now that some cooler weather has arrived. This cute sketch for the Tuesday Morning Sketch motivated me to use this Artistic Impression stamp that I have never used before.  The papers I used are from Echo Park and the cardbase is kraft from Gina K.

CCEE 2040 Mad Hatter

 Hi Crafty Friends,

It's a brand new month and our challenge hostess for the month is Frances Byrne.

Before we get onto this week's challenges we would like to introduce you to our two new Design Team members who are joining our team this week. Please make welcome Hazel Estibeiro, her blog is Handcrafted Expressions and Manal Habib, her blog is Miniscraft. 

Apparently the 6th October is Mad Hatter Day, so for our challenge this week create a card inspired by the theme … Hats, Alice In Wonderland, Mad Hatter.

Let's take a look at what the Design Team created for this challenge.

I did not own any Mad Hatter things so I freehanded this hat as I browsed Alice in Wonderland related items on the internet. I had this cute stack of cups that I thought would go with tea, and I found this cute saying on Pinterest.  Hope I got close to something that fits this theme.

Violets in Rich Razzleberry

 

I made this card for the Color Challenge  over on  Splitcoaststampers this week using white, rich razzleberry, and old olive. I used one of my favorite stamps from Flourishes (no longer in business). It is probably at least 8 years old. I really do not know.  It will always be a part of my stamp collection no matter how old it is. Since it is old and so are the ink pads I used for this card, I am entering this in the Retro rubber challenge this week too. You can find that challenge HERE.

I send out a lot of sympathy cards for my church, and this will make a great one when needed.  

Make My Monday Challenge - scraps

 

Design papers are so pretty and I have trouble even throwing away scraps such as these. So, for the Make my Monday Challenge to use up your scraps, I found this perfect opportunity to weave them together for a wonderful background for this digital stamp from Power Poppy that I colored with copic markers. Christmas Throwdown - September Technique challenge

 The challenge over in the Christmas Throwdown challenge this week is to use a partial stencil on your card. I used half of the Gina K snowflake stencil on my card using Distress Oxide inks. Then over the top of that I stamped with Versafine black the nativity and the sentiment. This is one layered card will be an easy to mail card for Christmas.  I am not sure of the source of the image and sentiment as I forgot to mark my case with that information.
